Project directory

Who is building carbon removal — and how to evaluate them.

The directory is a reference layer for partners, funders, and researchers: what each removal pathway looks like on the ground, what evidence a credible project shows, and how to get a project listed as the directory opens up.

Pathway reference

What "good" looks like, per pathway

Use these as a diligence starting point when a project crosses your desk.

Direct air capture + storage

Look for: the energy source and its carbon intensity, energy demand per tonne, storage partner and injection permits, and metered capture data rather than nameplate capacity.

  • High durability
  • Strong MRV
  • Energy-intensive

Biochar

Look for: feedstock sourcing and competition, pyrolysis conditions (they drive carbon stability), application tracking, and which registry methodology the project follows.

  • Deployable now
  • Co-benefits
  • Decades–centuries durability

Mineralization & weathering

Look for: feedstock chemistry and logistics, measurement approach for open-system weathering, and independent sampling — this is the pathway where MRV method matters most.

  • Very durable
  • MRV frontier
  • Feedstock-bound

BECCS & bio-oil

Look for: biomass sustainability criteria, counterfactual use of the feedstock, capture rates, and storage confirmation — the value chain has more links to verify.

  • Energy + removal
  • Land constraints
  • Chain-of-custody

Listing criteria

What we ask of listed projects

  • Public, verifiable information — a real site, team, and pathway description.
  • Methodology transparency: which protocol or registry the project measures against.
  • An MRV story: what is measured, by whom, and how often.
  • Community context: where the project operates and who it affects.

Listings are references, not endorsements — buyers and investors should always run their own diligence.

New plants, new offtakes, and new pathways surface in the daily signal first. The directory grows as the sector does.

Understand the physics

Model a plant yourself

Before you take a capacity claim at face value, run the numbers: the solar CO2-removal lab turns capacity, energy demand, and cost into tonnes, land, and scale.
